CNAME/MX/NS targets must end in a dot

1 min read

Today I learned that when setting up DNS records. CNAME, MX, and NS targets must end with a dot . to indicate that it is a FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name).

The exception is when your target is a “short name”. In this case, the DNSControl will add the domain name to it.
